Your Water Meter. How It Needs Care.

Water charges are based on consumption and billed monthly. Costs do not vary much from one month to the next but do watch out for unusual spikes. Immediately check for leaks or any other plumbing installations you have at home that might be causing a rise in water usage. Costs cannot be reversed and therefore, it is important to rectify faulty installations right away including water meters.

A water meter is a tool to measure the volume of water used that is billed to customers. Therefore, its condition and performance must be regularly inspected to keep it in good order and well-maintained.

TMD seeks everyone’s cooperation to provide access at all times to TMD officers who record water meter readings. Do not put any obstruction such as permanent cover on the meter or put ceramic pots on top or building materials and the like nor lock water meters that officers are unable to record the water consumption accurately.

Any ‘locking’ of water meters can only be performed by TMD officers and only upon request by the owner during a prolonged absence or the house remains unoccupied. If the owner do not ask for this service, and there happens to be a leak that causes a surge in the bill, the owner is obliged to pay the costs of water consumption as per the water meter reading.

There is no fee charged by TMD to open the water meter once the owner returns and use the property or when the house is occupied. However, there will be a fee for reconnecting water meters that have been removed.

Avoid problems caused by unnecessary neglect of water meters. Reduce anxieties raised by unusual billings. Do corrective actions immediately to ensure that you never have to worry again about water.

Call TMD for any water related concerns and our expert technicians will provide quick assistance, quality services and special care.
