Post Image The recent rainy weather may result in an increase of uninvited animals, such as snakes. While snakes are understandably a source of fear for many, there are steps you can take to prevent and handle encounters with these creatures.

First and foremost, snakes are attracted to areas with abundant food. To avoid attracting them, dispose of food waste properly and keep your home clean. Additionally, snakes may seek warmth in cold weather, so ensuring that your home is well-insulated can help detour them.

Remember that snakes don't typically attack humans or pets unless they feel threatened or provoked. If you encounter a snake, give it space and avoid standing in its way of escape. It's best not to approach or try to handle a snake unless you're trained to do so.

To prevent snakes from entering your home, make sure to seal any openings or gaps in walls, floors, or around pipes. It's also important to keep your yard tidy, removing potential hiding spots like piles of leaves or debris.

If you do come across a snake and need assistance, contact your nearest security officer or call TMD Emergency 0800 900 911 for help from the TMD Animal Control Team. When reporting, provide an accurate description or even a photo of the snake if possible.

While snakes can be scary, they are generally more afraid of us. By taking proactive measures to prevent encounters and handling situations calmly, we can ensure a safer environment for ourselves and our families.
