Renovating your Home
Renovation, especially structural renovation that includes work on the building's structural or functional changes such as expanding, adding a floor, will cause noise including dust that can disturb other residents in the neighborhood. This goes the same for non-structural renovation that can also cause noise or dust, for example, when you do floor or window sills replacement.Other than the permission from TMD, it will be appropriate if before doing any renovation work, especially major, to inform neighbors next to your house, on the right, left, front and back, about the renovation plan. This also applies to residents who is planning to rebuild their house in order to keep a harmonious relationship with your neighbours.
Here are some rules for house renovation and rebuilding:
- Please remember that any renovation work is only allowed to start from 08.00 am up to 05.00 pm, on Monday to Saturday, and no work is permitted on Sundays and public holidays. It is not convenient for neighbours to hear building sounds when they are resting at home.
- Building workers should leave the work area after working hour, and are not allowed to stay overnight.
- Vehicles that supply building materials, have to get previous permission to enter any residential location. There is a weight load limit on delivery trucks. Check with TMD.
- All forms of trash, debris and other unwanted materials should be discarded by the homeowner and/or contractors appointed outside the region with the expense of the homeowner and/or appointed contractors. If this rule is ignored, then TMD has the right to dump all waste, debris and other materials, and will charge all costs to the homeowner in the IPKL statement.
